Kennebunkport announces Goose Rocks Beach dog rules
The town of Kennebunkport has an ordinance requiring dogs to be leashed in certain areas of town. The Goose Rocks area is included and the following are the specific rules for the beach.

April 1 - June 14:

6 to 7:30 a.m. - Dogs must be leashed or under voice/sight control.

After 7:30 a.m. – Leash required.

June 15 – Sept. 30:

6 to 7:30 a.m. - Dogs must be leashed or under voice/sight control.

7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and after 6 p.m. – Leash required.

8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. – No dogs on beach.

In addition, piping plovers, which are protected under the Endangered Species Act, nest on the beach. Maine Audubon, with volunteers, erects and maintains enclosures around the nests. Harassing these birds is a federal offense. The police department will provide extra patrols during the summer season and, along with animal control, will enforce laws.
