Phonebank for solar, Jan 29
Phonebank for solar, Jan 29
Right now, Central Maine Power (CMP) and the Public Utilities Commission appointed by LePage are trying to make solar less accessible by charging an unfair fee on the power Mainers make with solar in their own homes.

We need your help to protect and increase access to solar power through legislation that will be voted on soon at the State House.

Please join us and the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) for a phonebank this Monday, January 29th, from 5-8 PM at the NRCM office, 3 Wade Street in Augusta.

We will be calling Maine people whose state legislators are swing votes on the solar bill (LD 1444) and asking them to contact their legislators in support of solar. MCV and NRCM will provide all volunteers with a script for making calls and a phone to use - so just come ready to talk about solar!

With LD 1444, Democrats and Republicans have developed a bipartisan solution to support solar and stop this unfair fee. This bill will also allow more Mainers to participate in community solar, which will benefit individuals, municipalities and businesses.

This sounds like a win for everyone, but Governor LePage and his allies have launched an assault on solar and are working to defeat the bill. We need all of Maine's lawmaker to stand up to CMP and the Public Utilities Commission to make the difference.

The vote will be coming up very soon, so it’s important that legislators continue to hear from their constituents on this issue.

I hope you can join us to make our voices heard in Augusta - and across the state!
