Resist Mike Pompeo’s confirmation as Secretary of State
Action Alert - Thursday, March 15, 2018

Trump just fired Rex Tillerson, one of the few people left in his cabinet who was willing to speak out against Vladimir Putin. But even more egregious is that Trump nominated Mike Pompeo, a xenophobic, pro-torture, climate-denying war hawk, to replace Tillerson.

Ask Congress to Oppose Anti-wolf Riders
Action Alert - Monday, March 12, 2018

Congress will likely vote in the next two weeks on a 2018 spending bill for the Department of Interior. Because that legislation is likely to be broadly supported, anti-wolf legislators are using it as a vehicle to try to pass their otherwise unpopular attacks on wildlife. Email your senator or representative and ask that they persuade Leadership to strip these "riders" prior to the bill being voted on. ~ Endangered Species Coalition

State rejects plan for rebuilt dam
Portland Press Herald - Tuesday, October 28, 2008

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has issued a draft order denying permission for a dam to generate power for Scribner's Mill, which is being restored as a living history museum. Although the mill's owners would install a bypass for fish, the dam poses too great a threat to the valuable landlocked salmon population in Sebago Lake, the DEP said.
Fireworks over, observers await Plum Creek fallout
Portland Press Herald - Sunday, October 26, 2008

The approval amounts to a green light for other landowners with large-scale development ambitions, according to some observers. Others, however, say the contentious three-year-long review and several rounds of changes to Plum Creek's original plan are sure to scare other landowners away and lead to more piecemeal development.
